Walking is gentle with moments for reflection the  invitation is to actively contribute. This weekend

Saturday 22: We walk to Cherhill White Horse from a country park on the edge of the Wessex Ridgeway. Some stunning vistas of eroded chalk downs then high to a tattered monument and an iron age hillfort overlooking Avebury and the stone age gathering place of Windmill Hill. In the diary it says Summer begins, we'll see.

11.45 Cherhill – meet at Smallgrain picnic site, near North Wilts Golf Club . Book your free place here

Sunday 23: We offer you two walks to the White Horses  at Broadtown and Hackpen. First to Broadtown an almost secret White Horse on the lower escarpment facing West below another hillfort. The journey to this rarely seen chalk figure is a real treat.  Later in the day from Barbury Castle into the valley of the stones used for Stonehenge we will make out way to the Hackpen White Horse, returning to the earthwork along The Ridgeway. Walk in the footsteps of the ancients, share your thoughts.

0945 Broad Town – meet at the Crown, Broad Hinton  Book your free place here

13.45 Hackpen – meet at Barbury Castle Car Park  Book your free place here

What will happen to your contributions?

Ali and Richard are co creating an installation and an app. The installation, Freedom on My Doorstep will include some large silks that Ali will create and an immersive digial audio/visual experience that Richard will develop using his own material and contributions from walkers and other artists working remotely.  The installation will be at the Wiltshire Museum in Devizes in August, coinciding with The Long Walk,  visiting all 8 white horses, covering 100 miles in 5 days.

The mobile app will provide a virtual  'sound park' at or near each white horse, walkers on the Long Walk will be the first to experience it, the app will be developed for publishing as a free down load later in the year. As far as possible all walker contributions will be credited.

Ali is leading a series of silk painting workshops to create small flags to present to the Long Walk team at each White Horse.

The Long Walk finishes on August Bank Holiday Monday at the Devizes Carnival.
